Dr. Mohammed Rafiqul Islam is a distinguished Bangladeshi urologist, academician, and researcher with more than two decades of clinical, surgical, and teaching experience. He currently serves as a Professor in the Department of Urology at Bangladesh Medical University (formerly Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University), one of the country’s premier tertiary-care teaching and research institutions. Throughout his career, he has remained dedicated to providing high-quality patient care, advancing minimally invasive urological surgery, and educating the next generation of urologists. After earning his MBBS from Dhaka Medical College in 2001, Dr. Islam pursued postgraduate specialization and completed his Master of Surgery (MS) in Urology from the University of Dhaka in 2012. He obtained his Fellowship of the Société Internationale d'Urologie (SIU) in 2017 and is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). His strong academic foundation, combined with years of surgical experience, has enabled him to develop extensive expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of complex urological conditions. Before joining the Department of Urology, Dr. Rafiq served as a Lecturer in the Department of Pathology at Holy Family Red Crescent Medical College & Hospital, where he was actively involved in undergraduate medical education and academic assessment. Since joining Bangladesh Medical University in 2003, he has been involved in outpatient and inpatient management, emergency and elective urological surgery, postgraduate teaching, and postgraduate assessment.
